And Nothing Seems to Change: Ad Hoc Statistics of Black Crime - Part 1
By Patrick Hall
During the Obama Administration, the then President gave an out-of-place, if not disheartening address at a funeral for the murdered police officers in Texas. At the same time, the former Commander-in-Chief never gave a major speech highlighting the epidemic of black-on-black crime and criminal modality within the African American community. Instead, he inferred that America and law enforcement had much to regret in their treatment of African Americans.
I don’t wish to take the time in this column to point out the “true audacity of Obama” who was extraordinarily good at doing and saying nothing quite well. He remains to this day, a slick and polished, albeit amoral politician; a product of his main mentor Frank Marshal Davis.
Instead, here are some matter-of-fact, if not calamitous statistics all of us need to know about criminality with a significant portion of the Black community. They are numbers that Obama, many within the political class of both parties, and the current occupant of the White House have ignored for decades.
Data Point #1 Statistics show that 93 % of black homicide victims are murdered by other blacks. The cultural left and Democrats’ rebuttal is that 84 % of white homicides are killed by other whites. But here is what a deeper dive into FBI Crime Stats show. White crime rates are much lower than black crime rates.
Data Point #2 Blacks commit violent crimes at 7 to 10 times the rate when compared to whites and other groups. This also includes misdemeanors and minor felonies.
Data Point #3 Blacks committed 52 percent of homicides between 1980 and 2021. This is despite composing just 13 percent of the population. Across the same timeframe, whites committed 45 percent of homicides while composing 77% of the population, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Also, if one takes into account that Black females make up less than 2% of all homicides nationwide. The proclivity or socio-cultural comportment of black men in the area of homicides is even more tragic, if not daunting.
Data Point #4 There are even more startling stats. For example, in 2013 the FBI has black criminals carrying out 38% of murders, compared to 30% for whites. The offender’s race was unknown in 32% of cases.
Data Point #5 When we break it down to violent crime in general the FBI’s other data is even more stark. For example, in my review of the years 2011 to 2013 38.5% of the people arrested for murder, rape, manslaughter, robbery, and aggravated assault were Black. Once more, remember African Americans or Blacks make up only 13% of the total population here in the United States. In the last years, I reviewed ending in 2021, the above numbers haven’t moved. However, there has been a slight uptick in black criminality. Nothing seems to change for the better when addressing crime in many black communities. If one drills down further into these statistics, the situation becomes more alarming, when we scrutinize homicide rates for blacks in larger urban areas such as Chicago, Baltimore, or New York. The objective reality is that the greatest danger or existential threat to Black Americans does not come from white supremacists, Republicans, or Donald Trump. It comes from other Blacks!

The situation could possibly be worst, since the FBI doesn't receive crime statistics from every law enforcement agencies. We know the problem, what strategies have you advocated and assisted in implementing to decrease crime
